Discover the resting place of Theo Jansen's famous Strandbeesten

Come to the Strandbeesten Mortuary in Kabeldistrict Delft: a extraordinary exhibition about the evolution of Theo Jansen's famous creatures.

In the exhibition, you can follow Theo Jansen's years of research into realising his dream: creatures that can live independently on the beach. The extinct specimens are displayed as natural history objects, in chronological order. From the Gluton era (1990: the tape period) to the Tenerium (2023-2024: the period of holding each other). The exhibition starts with the story of how the Strandbeesten came to life and ends with videos showing the creatures in action.

Open on Thursdays 13:00 - 21:00
Free admission based on a voluntary donation*.
Location: Kabeldistrict Delft, north entrance 2
Address: Schieweg 15, Delft

For group reservations, please contact Kabeldistrict.

Are you a big fan of Theo Jansen and his Strandbeesten? Do you enjoy being active in a creative environment? We could use some extra help welcoming and guiding visitors on Thursdays. Does this sound interesting to you? Please send us an email.
